Yao Chen is a costume designer with international design credits. Her designs can be seen in the United States, China and Costa Rica. Her selective productions include Mid Winter Nights’ Dream, Titus and Andronicus, The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, The Glass Menagerie, The Folks at Home, The Paper Dream of Harry Chin, The House that Jack Built ,Diary of Ann Frank at Indiana Repertory Theatre, What we are now, Lady Day at Emerson Grill, The Rise and Fall of Holy Fudge and ect at Merrimack Repertory theatre, Radio Golf at Trinity Repertory Company, The Music Man at Berkshire Theatre Group,Antony and Cleopatra, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre,  Morzart L’ Rock at Seven Ages, Ltd, China, I am Tai Ping Goat, at Dong Gong theatre, Long Fu theatre in Beijing, China; Amadeus at the Theatre Espressivo, San Jose, Costa Rica; and various Theatre for Young Audience productions at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, First Stage, Seattle Children’s Theatre and Orlando Repertory Theatre.
